    Creedence Clearwater Revival is the self-titled debut of the legendary Northern California “swamp rock” group -released on the fourth of July, 1968. The album contains the hits “Suzy Q,” and the Screamin’ Jay Hawkins song “I Put A Spell On You.”  The first (and most psychedelic) in a slew of hit albums for the group, Creedence… peaked on the US Billboard 200 at #52 and is Certified Platinum (RIAA).

Yes


     Dive right into the progressive rock sounds of Yes with their eponymous 1969 debut album, which set the stage for their iconic 1970s sound. Yes is the first studio album from the English group and was released on Atlantic Records in the United Kingdom on July 25, 1969. The album gives audiences a prelude to a sound that would find its popularity around the world throughout the 1970s. The original US & UK releases feature differing album cover art.

Queen

     
Hear the birth of rock royalty with Queen's 1973 debut album that first introduced listeners to the combo of Freddie Mercury's powerhouse vocals and Brian May's iconic guitar work. Queen hit store shelves in the United Kingdom on July 13, 1973. The certified Gold album features May's guitar anthem “Keep Yourself Alive,” and hit the US Billboard 200 chart at #83. Queen was a top 25 album in the groups native UK and at least four different vinyl pressings were made of the album in 1973 with the “Main” (first) pressing continuing to be much sought after.

New York Dolls


     The genesis of the punk rock revolution includes the New York Dolls' influential 1973 debut, produced by Todd Rundgren. The first of only two albums by this short-lived, but heavily influential punk group of the early seventies captures the beginnings of a sound that resonates throughout music to this day. Since its’ initial release on vinyl July 27, 1973, dozens of artists from David Bowie to Guns N’ Roses cite New York Dolls as having had a major impact on their musical creation. The B-52's


     A new wave hit on July 20, 1979 with the release of the B-52s self titled debut on Warner Brothers Records. The B-52s is the first of 7 studio albums from the group spanning over 40 years. The albums hit single “Rock Lobster” was included as a 7” single among the first copies of the vinyl release while the classic cover art also help sell copies, propelling The B-52s to certified platinum (RIAA). The album peaked at #59 on the Billboard 200 Album chart and in 2020 ranked #198 on Rolling Stone’s Top 500 Albums of all time. In May 2024, the band’s hometown of Athens, Georgia named their local hockey team the Athens Rock Lobsters after fans overwhelmingly voted to honor their new wave music heritage.

Metallica


     The debut Kill ‘Em All from one of the pioneers of heavy thrash metal took listeners by storm upon its’ release on July 25, 1983. The album rips through long rock anthems including the nearly seven minute “Seek & Destroy.” Although not initially met with widespread commercial success, Kill ‘Em All has increased in popularity over the years and has since been certified triple-Platinum. Early pressings of the indie label Megaforce Records release are highly collectible.

Madonna


     Madonna materialized on the scene July 27, 1983 with the release of her self titled debut album Madonna, and ushered in a notable change in pop culture and the music business. The Sire / Warner Brothers release featured hits “Border Line,” “Lucky Star,” and “Holiday,” combined with accompanying music videos which drove the album to #8 on Billboards Top 200 Album chart and #1 in all music video categories. Madonna has been certified 5x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
