The estate of David Bowie and Parlophone Records have unveiled the track list for the eagerly anticipated limited edition Ziggy Stardust-era LP, set to be exclusively available for Record Store Day 2024. The eleven-song album, titled Waiting In The Sky (Before the Starman Came to Earth), is scheduled to drop at independent record stores globally on April 20, 2024.
Waiting In The Sky (Before The Starman Came To Earth) is a meticulously compiled album featuring 1971 Ziggy-era recordings, capturing a snapshot of Bowie's creative process two months before the iconic "Starman" was recorded at Trident Studios in London, England. Parlophone Records describes the track listing as "provisional" for the album that eventually became The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars. Notably, it includes four tracks not present on the original 1972 release.
On side two of Waiting In The Sky, fans can expect to find "Holy Holy" and the beloved "Velvet Goldmine," along with two songs previously unreleased on LP, including a cover of Chuck Berry's "Round and Round."
Record Store Day, conceived in 2007, has grown to encompass 1400 independently-owned record stores in the US and thousands more internationally, celebrating the love for vinyl and independent music. Don't miss your chance to dive into the hidden treasures of Bowie's Ziggy Stardust era on this exclusive Record Store Day release.
